Illustration for the main competitive eating competition: Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on Coney Island every July 4th. It happens on July 4th because nothing says “Freedom” like eating 70 hot dogs in 10 minutes… oh wait, my bad, that’s 68 hot dogs in 10 minutes. I wrote a rant about the “sport” here.
‘Tour’ Talk

Billy Butler
Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010Billy is one of my favorite modern Royals. I recently wrote a blog about the plight of my favorite hometown team and I decided to use him as the subject of the illustration. You can read the blog here. One year we’re going to win more than we lose. One year we might even contend [...]

Texas Goes Shopping
Monday, June 21st, 2010Personal illustration for the shopping spree Texas recently went on. In the cart you see a disgruntled yet content Missouri, a cheery Oklahoma, a whistling Kansas and a euphoric, toothy Iowa as they all find themselves in Texas’ shopping cart. The Big 12 survives for now, in a cart that the bottom just might fall [...]

Crusaders
Monday, June 7th, 2010An illustration on the crusades, an interesting topic for the history nerd* in me. *Note, this is the book I’m currently reading. The back flap showcases praises from other authors, editors and such including “If you are going to read only one book on the Manichaean struggle between East and West, this is the book.” [...]

Edgar Allan’s Pick
Monday, June 7th, 2010There are thousands of great books to read (many of them classic literature), so why not choose one? There are so many great books, you could use an extra pair of hands and an extra life to read them all! *Note, there are also thousands of terrible modern books. Ease of publication leads to over-saturation, [...]
Warren G Harding
Thursday, March 11th, 2010Warren Harding was an affable man, but he faced the plight of many ineffective leaders gone before him. Whatever historians may consider to be his good qualities, one of those was definitely not taking a stand.
Cleanest Bathrooms Illustration
Wednesday, February 24th, 2010An editorial illustration for an article with the subject matter of “Restaurants with the cleanest bathrooms.” I did a few sketches on this one, trying to figure out how to get the idea across without distastefully focusing too much on what goes on in the bathroom.
Theodore Roosevelt
Tuesday, February 9th, 2010Theodore Roosevelt was the first great president America had since Abraham Lincoln. You cannot believe how excited I was to finally paint a recognizable face after what seemed like the longest stretch of unmemorable presidents.
Benjamin Harrison
Monday, January 25th, 2010You may recognize the name “Harrison.” It’s legacy runs all the way back to Plymouth Rock, but we needn’t go back that far to make the connection.
