Introducing the newest addition to the family, a 14.2 pound piebald dachshund named Turner! My wife and I have rescued the little guy from the local Humane Shelter and thus far he’s been a great little guy.

Turner

We renamed him Turner. Since I’m an artist, I can claim we named him after JMW Turner and that since Picasso and Warhol both owned dachshunds that is the reason we picked him, he’s artistic inspiration!

Like I’m prone to do, I have already begun to create a string of nicknames for the little fella. Here are some of them:

Turner Hound because my wife is always singing the first line from this Bonnie Tyler song “Turn around, every now and then I get a little bit lonely and you’re never comin’ round.”

“Bootstrap Bill” Turner which must be said in a pirate accent. The use of this nickname also requires his kennel to be called “Davy Jones Locker”

Teeny Turner because he’s small. He doesn’t really look like Tina Turner, though (thankfully).

Rocket Dog because once you get him out for a walk he runs like mad. I swear he thinks he’s some sort of sled dog he pulls against the leash. If I oblige him and run alongside he keeps up for a long ways, those little feet sure can move!

I think he’ll be a nice pet for my wife and I. He’s very quite, very calm and he doesn’t shed a lot. Good boy! He loves Milkbone brand dog biscuits and Dingo rawhide bones and will gladly accept donations of either treat.
