Album: This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In)
Release Date: October 21, 2004
Label: Epic Records
This type of thinking really could do Chevelle in. This album explodes off the starting line with the fantastic “The Clincher” and from that moment, they pretty much did clinch me as a fanboy for life. Unlike Wonder What’s Next which had obvious high points and stand out singles, This Type of Thinking is a complete album. Such a change is good for fans, but sucks for label execs since this albums sales failed to meet that of their predecessor.
I don’t know if I really should point out any specific songs in this review or not. I hesitate for a couple of reasons, the first and most likely is I would probably rave over all of them. The second, if you don’t own this album you definitely need to head over to Amazon and find your credit card. It’s being sold way to cheap.
This album has such tight riffs and a solid feel throughout, never slowing down, never allowing me to catch my breath. I never get tired of hearing Pete yell “Set the pace again” and the band promptly switching tempos in “Get Some” and in the end, there is no point in singling out too many songs as they’re all worthy of owning.
